Poverty and the AIDS pandemic have brought disaster to millions in our world. In Zimbabwe, this is compounded by economic turmoil. Unemployment stands at 90%, and the rate of inflation of 100,000% is the highest in the world. Hardest hit are orphans and desperate elderly grandparents. Zimbabwe has 1.4 million orphans – mainly as a result of AIDS.

A quarter of the population - the educated, the qualified, the enterprising - have emigrated to seek work elsewhere. AIDS has further decimated the potential wage earners. This leaves the old and frail to look after the young and vulnerable.

A pressing need exists to provide support and care in an efficient and accountable manner. Family Providers International accepts this challenge. With a team of dedicated and trustworthy staff in Zimbabwe, we are ready to assist in a viable and innovative way in order to help the greatest number of people in need.
